Hristo Petkov or “Risto” is one of the driving forces behind Bulgaria’s snowboard scene and founder of the cult brand Stinky Socks. He is a Bulgarian entrepreneur, advertiser, and producer, whose passion for snowboarding and active lifestyle inspired a multinational community of like-minded people and put Bulgaria on the map for the global snowboarding industry. His life is a perfect combination of business, sports, and culture. Risto was a finalist at “Next Generation Leader 2017” and was part of the production team of Stinky Movie (2018), which got nominated for the “Best Editing” award at SnowVision’18 film festival.
Now, a year later when being asked if his TEDxAUBG talk has had any impact in different aspects of his life, he said that even the process of working on the speech itself was exiting for him. Besides that, he values the experience as a whole. Let us not forget he was one of the speakers of the conference when COVID first hit, and like the other speakers, he as well had to deal with different obstacles such as changing his topic a bit. Regardless, he says that after his speech he received tons of positive messages about his talk, and some owners of different snowboard brands in the world reached out to him. The snowboarding community found his story inspiring. He even overcame his stage fright.
When asked what his topic would be if he was invited now, Risto says: “ I am interested in contributing to the sustainable future of our local communities, thus affecting the global efforts.”
So, the new topic would be related to consumerism and sustainability. For which we are sure, coming from this very achieved man, would be another great talk!
